SOLEIL LEVANT DES GUMMIS EN SUCRE

Born on 04 July 2021
Parents : Ree Joyce des Gummis en Sucre and Roméo du Clos d’Eugenie

Soleil Levant is the fruit of the joint work of Sylvie des Gummis and myself.

She means a lot to me because she is the result of many years of work for each of us, work that we were able to unite this year on the occasion of some weddings.

I am delighted to have a little lilac bitch who has taken many qualities from her ancestors. She has the grace and character of her mother. She has the power and the beautiful coat of her father.

Soleil Levant is genetically pure Shorthair. I can say this without the need for a genetic test because she herself comes from 2 pure Shorthair parents who had to be genetically tested.

Ree Joyce and Romeo did not inherit the Longhair gene from their father Only You for one and Valerio for the other, so all the kittens from this marriage are necessarily pure Shorthair.

What are the consequences of this genetic characteristic?

Soleil Levant will not be able to have a Longhair kitten whatever the marriage made in the future.

Roméo
du Clos D'Eugénie

Born on 22 February 2020
Parents : Or Rose & Valerio

Romeo was born in a litter of 3 very big kittens; weight in relation with the exceptional size of his 2 parents. I immediately fell in love with this kitten whose evolution is remarkable for his current age. He looks very mature for his 1 year old. He hasn’t had any kittens yet but we hope to see his first babies in 2021 or 2022.

Physically he is very imposing and already has a very large head of a breeding male. His coat is splendid as in all his maternal lineage. As for his character, he is gentle, shy and reserved. He needs time to acclimatise in case of a change of environment like a good number of kittens when they arrive at the adopters. The contrast between his strong physique and his sensitive character is amusing.

Initially it was not intended that Romeo would be a breeding cat but a combination of circumstances changed his destiny. Romeo was to go to a loyal adopter in Strasbourg, France, who has a female born to me in 2018. Complications caused by COVID-19 prevented his journey. His adopter very kindly postponed her reservation on a brother of Radieuse which allowed me and my friend Sylvie of the Gummis en Sucre cattery to make other plans for Romeo.

Romeo is a blue chocolate carrier, he is a pure Shorthair and his blood type is B. This is a good opportunity to have a look at the blood type of cats.

There are three blood groups in cats: group A, group B and group AB. Blood group A and blood group AB are very similar. In almost all breeds, the dominant blood group is type A.

There may be an incompatibility between the mother’s blood type and the blood type of one or more of her kittens. If there is a blood incompatibility, the kittens’ red blood cells can be destroyed. This disease, called neonatal erythrolysis disease, can result in the death of kittens within the first few days of life and necrosis of the extremities of all limbs within the first few weeks for the least affected.

Blood incompatibility can occur when a group B mother is married to a group A or group AB male.

Therefore:
A group B female should preferably be married to a group B male to avoid any risk of blood incompatibility.
However, a group B female may be married to a group A or group AB male. In this case, the kittens should be separated from the mother for about 24 hours. After 24 hours the kittens are safe and can be returned to the mother.

A female of group A or group AB can be married to a male of group B or a male of group A, as there is no risk of blood incompatibility.

A group B male can therefore be matched with any female regardless of blood type.

Unfortunately in the British breed the B blood type is very common, about 40% of cats have this blood type which needs special attention for reproduction.

For this reason, all cats are tested for their blood type, and marriages are arranged with this in mind.

Or Rose
du Clos D'Eugénie

Born on 3 July 2018
Parents: Gloria & Eminem

She is the litter sister of Violette (Rolls Royce’s mother). Rose and Violette are physically very different. We can even say that everything is opposed to them: Rose has a very light blue coat, she is taller and heavier than her sister. Her character is also more shy. Violette looks like her mother and Rose looks like her father. I was delighted to let them grow up together and to have their first kittens together too. I am also happy to be able to continue this line with Romeo.

Gloria, Romeo’s grandmother, is featured on the Rolls Royce page.

Ô de Violette
du Clos D'Eugénie

Née le 3 Juillet 2018
Parents : Gloria & Eminem

Ô de Violette was born at home from Gloria’s last litter of 4 blue girls. I kept Ô de Violette and Or Rose in this litter. It was an amazing adventure as they grew up together and had their first litter in the same week in June 2019. They raised their 9 kittens together making me live an exceptional double litter.

Physically, Violette is a good-sized female with a blue coat tending towards charcoal grey. Her coat is of perfect quality. Her intense eyes are exceptional. Her body is short and stocky, set on short and strong legs. She is a very beautiful cat.

Her character fascinates me, it’s the zen attitude. Scared of nothing and not aggressive even under stress, she is a perfect mother in every way. Royce has inherited her mother’s wonderful character.

Gloria Bonibrit

Born on May 14, 2015
Parents: Pandora & Orphéus

Gloria was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. Arrived from Lithuania at the age of 7 months with her cousin Horacio, I immediately liked everything about Gloria: her looks and her character. She is an extremely well proportioned medium sized female with a fabulous dark blue coat, which Violette inherited. Her incredible orange eyes are easily passed on to her offspring. Gloria comes from a line of blue British over many generations and she herself has only passed on this colour to her offspring.
